Profitbase AS is a wholly owned Norwegian IT company with thirty years of experience in business management IT. Today, it is one of the country’s leading companies in business intelligence (BI). We have achieved this by never losing sight of our vision: Better information, faster.
We are 65 skilled and dedicated employees dispersed across offices in Sandnes, Oslo, and Bergen (Norway) and in York (Pennsylvania, USA). We deliver innovative and profitable IT solutions to over 230 customers spanning the majority of industries.
Our goal is to become Norway’s most-preferred BI provider. We aim to do this by showing our customers how future-oriented technology combined with considerable IT experience can create systems that generate real value in the form of increased efficiency and better decision-making. Again and again and again.
Our story began in the late 1980s with the IT company Présens, in Stavanger, developing solutions to support financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting activities. In the late 1990s, Présens began a collaboration with Proscon which specialised in data warehousing, reporting, and analysis. Together they developed the first edition of what we know today as the Profitbase Business Intelligence Suite.
In 2000, Présens merged with Proscon under the name Proscon AS, which was later changed to Profitbase AS. In 2004, Profitbase merged with Profit Retail and the Oslo office was established. During the next few years we focused strongly on retail and standardized a number of modules for this industry.
In 2014, we established the subsidiary Profitbase Focus and specialised in the banking, finance, and energy sectors. In just a couple of years, Profitbase established itself as a major and important player in these areas.
In 2015, we expanded further through the acquisition of the Stavanger-based company Fairwind, which specialised in providing IT services in the auditing, procurement, project management, and consultancy fields.
Towards the end of 2015 we opened an additional office in Bergen to provide even better service for our customers in that region.
Our vision can be summed up in a few words: Better information, faster.
It is not easy to predict the future, but we are pretty certain that the amount of data in the world is not about to shrink any time soon. In fact, we believe ourselves to be on the cusp of an era where the ability to collect and manage big data from the IoT (Internet of things) will be the deciding factor between the winners and losers in any given market. We intend to be on the winning side.
We will help to create future businesses by providing them with the tools they need to give their information real, tangible value. We will do this by always keeping the promise expressed in our vision.
